Innovating Medical Technologies in Interdisciplinary Teams


In their Biodesign project, the team identified an unmet medical need and developed a solution to it. The team raised funding from Tekes to prepare for the commercialization of their technology that kills streptococcus mutans bacteria in the mouth, thus improving dental care by preventing and treating caries and infections. The iDenta innovation is projected to be a major breakthrough in dental care and its successful commercialization internationally will have a positive impact on Finnish economy. The award was granted to Katja Ivanitskiy, Sakari Nikinmaa, Tommi Pätilä, Jaakko Nieminen, and Risto Ilmoniemi.
